Congratulations to our pupils who received their Junior Cert results on Wednesday, 9th September.
In August, our friends from St. Charles, Missouri arrived in Carndonagh following a tour of the country. Their week-long Inishowen stop was the finale of an adventure that took them from Dublin, through Cork and Galway, and onwards to the northwest. The aim of the visit was to solidify the connections that have already been established between St. Charles High School and Carndonagh Community School. Carla O'Dell, one of the visiting group's chief organisers, expressed great satisfaction that the links between the schools have now expanded to include the wider areas of St. Charles and Inishowen. The formalities included a welcome evening and barbecue in Carndonagh CS, several tours of the locality, and a municipal meeting of visitors, CCS staff and local political representatives. The meeting was ably chaired by Aideen Doherty. The twinning is in the early stages, but with further exchange trips already on the horizon, there's no doubt that the links and friendships that have already been made can only become stronger.
Friday, 28th August was a signature day in the ongoing redevelopment of Carndonagh CS, as the school's new "Wellbeing Centre" was formally unveiled. Former staff member, Paschal Harkin cut the ribbon to open Ionad Folláine Paschal Uí Earcáin. Fr. George McLaughlin, Rev. Alison Gallagher, and Board of Management, staff and community members looked on as tributes were paid to long-serving PE teacher, Paschal, and also to the builders and architects who have spent the best part of a year constructing an extension that is unique in the locality. While fully kitting out the space with equipment will be a major project in itself, there is no doubt that a huge step has been taken in the development of health and fitness at CCS.

School can make a substantial contribution to the health and well-being of the whole school community. Schools for health in Ireland provides a framework for a school to assess health needs and begin a process of working towards better health for all who learn and work within the school setting.
