Lorraine O'Carroll Fourth Year Pottery Workshop

Lorraine O'Carrol Pottery WorkshopLorraine O'Carroll (Peninsula Pottery) recently visited Mrs. McDermott's and Ms. McGee's Fourth Year Art classes to demonstrate "pottery throwing". While pottery throwing may sound like antisocial behaviour, it actually takes great skill. The pupils learned the basics of fashioning pots out of clay on a wheel. They clearly had some fun in the process. Many thanks to Lorraine for her visit.

Past-pupil, Oliver Doherty, now regarded as a "top-10 up-and-coming Irish designer" visited CCS on Monday, 18th April to showcase his techniques to senior Art pupils. Oliver's concepts marry contemporary and traditional styles together, with Donegal-based hand-weaving playing a significant role in his creations. The pupils were more than impressed to learn that the costumes worn by Game of Thrones characters "North of the Wall" are devised by Oliver. He is clearly well on the way to joining the elite in the fashion industry.
