Julie Quinn Junk Kouture

Junk Kouture Royal Film Premiere photo album

This time last year Grainne Doherty, Niall Kelly and Julie Quinn set out to create "Sheer Glass", assisted by their teacher, Pauline McDermott. The dress is made of over 100 green, crushed glass bottles and old findings of PVA glue. The dress was entered into the competition Junk Kouture, eventually making it to the finals and winning the Bank of Ireland Glamour Award. All involved were delighted! As a reward the dress AND model got to attend the Royal Film Premiere in London.

A few weeks ago Julie was told that she would be attending the Royal Film Premiere of the new James Bond film, Spectre. She was determined to get Grainne and Niall to London. With the help of a CCS Fashion Fundraiser, the School and the support of the Donegal Film Office, they got their tickets. They were absolutely delighted!

The trio travelled to London on October Bank Holiday weekend. Julie met up with the other Glamour Award winning team from Co. Weastmeath and also met Elizabeth Curran and Troy Armour, founders of Junk Kouture. Model Adelina, Elizabeth and Troy walked the red carpet with Julie.

Julie describes the experience of the red carpet:

"Attending the Royal Film Premiere was truely an incredible experience. I felt so glamorous landing on the red carpet, having had our hair and makeup done. I was overwhelmed with the crowds and paprazzi. I was feeling a little nervous but super excited. I loved meeting the stars, they were all so lovely admiring the dresses. Will I Am came over to us and he was blown away by the dresses. He loved them. I loved the whole atmosphere and excitement and it felt really special. The venue was spectacular and the film itself was great. Overall it was an amazing experience."

The pupils had a great weekend sightseeing all over London. They went to the London Dungeons, the National Art Museum and of course bought some fancy cupcakes in Harrods!

Grainne, Niall and Julie would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported them throughout the past year - their family and friends have been so lovely. They would also like to thank everyone who helped them fundraise for London; everyone who helped in the CCS Fashion Show was brilliant!
