CCS Welcomes Jaén Spanish Exchange

Spanish Exchange

Carndonagh Community School welcomes pupils from Maristas Secondary School, Jaén, Andalucia. The Spanish students and their Irish counterparts will enjoy a series of field trips this week, including the Famine Village, Titanic Museum, Derry's Walls and the Ulster American Folk Park. They will also attend classes and take part in some cultural events in the school. We hope the Spanish pupils and their chaperones, Teresa and Juanjo, enjoy their time in Inishowen and beyond.

Adiós to Our Spanish Amigos

Spanish FarewellAs Christmas approaches it is time to bid a fond farewell to a number of our Long Stay Spanish students. Jaime Ureña, Teresa MIllán, Blanca Ruiz, Maria Bermudez and Laura Cobo have been enrolled in Carndonagh Community School since the beginning of this academic year, with a view to improving their command of English. Apart from Laura, all of these students have completed their studies at CCS. These  students are greatly indebted to the management and staff of CCS for affording them so many opportunities over these past months. A special word of thanks to the hospitality and generosity of their host families. Adiós amigos y Feliz Navidad!

The Annual European Day of Language took place on Friday, 30th October. The Canteen was once again decked out with signature dishes from around Europe (and the world). The more adventurous among the pupils got stuck into snails, frog legs and kangaroo. Impressively, a whole lobster also made an appearance on the menu. It was a fine spread that intrigued the pupils, though many were cautious and a few were just plain squeemish. Overall, however, it was a day of cultural appreciation.

Adiós to our Pupils from Spain

Spanish Farewell

Spanish Farewell photo album

To Natalia, Jorge, Victor, Cecilia, Javier, Carlos, Cecilia, Victor, Elena, Maria, Ana, Angel and Teresa, we say adiós amigos! If they look like they enjoyed their time in CCS, that's because they did! The Coffee Dock and Library will feel a little emptier after Christmas, not to mention a little quieter! But don't worry, a handful of los estudiantes will be returning in January to liven things up again...
