School Uniform Update - August 2019

As a result of evaluating the school uniform and feedback we received throughout the year, we would like to inform you that, from August 2019, if a girl chooses to wear a skirt or pinafore, they must be knee length. If a student chooses to wear trousers, absolutely no jeggings or leggings should be worn to school.

From August, if a student comes to school not wearing the proper uniform they will be asked to go home and change. We would like your support in this.

As a school we pride ourselves on how positively our students represent CCS on all occasions. We would like to maintain this very positive image of the students in CCS.

The Annual Prizegiving Ceremony for academic achievement took place on Friday, 25th January in front of a capacity Áras. The guest speaker on the day was Carndonagh-based author, Paul Lynch. His message was simply that if you work hard hard enough at what you love, you'll eventually get the luck you need! CCS Staff, Management and Board of Management would like to congratulate all awardees on their achievements to date. Keep up the good work.

Role of Social Media in Cyberbullying - Survey Results & Safe Tips

On Monday 21st January, in conjunction with the Student Council, the students of CCS were asked for their opinion about whether social media has contributed to an increase in bullying in schools.

The results were collated and showed that an overwhelming majority of the student body - 65% - felt that yes it had.

Tuesday 5th February is the designated EU Safer Internet Day.

CCS will be supporting this initiative in the following way:

Minister Joe McHugh Visits CCS

Minister Joe McHugh Visits CCS photo album

On Monday 10th December the Minister for Education & Skills, Joe Mc Hugh T.D. visited the school.

He met with members of the Board of Management, members of the Student Council and Prefects and discussed the development needs of the school and the challenges faced in managing a large school with a dispersed campus.

He was presented with a copy of The Last of the Name and a hand woven tweed scarf made especially for him by Anne McGonigle of Glendowen Crafts.

He took a tour of the school and was amazed at the extent of the campus.

Afterwards he met with and talked to the 5th Year Politics & Society class, the Prefects and the Student Council.

The Annual Prizegiving Ceremony for academic and creative achievement took place in the Áras on Friday, 26th January. The guest speaker was past-pupil, Caroline McLaughlin, a senior associate at Callan Tansey Solicitors. Her attendance was fitting given that the Callan Tansey Dílseacht Award Bursary was one of the awards presented on the day. The photo album will be populated gradually over the course of the week.
