The sun finally made an appearance this year and it was not before time as the entire school made its way outside to celebrate "Proclamation Day". Activities have been ongoing in CCS in the lead-up to the formal event, including the Flags for Schools Initiative, several 1916 / Somme exhibition visits, proclamations and anthems in every room, and a fantastic mural in the Technology Building - well done to TYC! The March 15th Proclamation, unlike the original, passed off peacefully; the pupils must be commended for their respectful observation of the ceremony. Pupil, Michael White summoned the spirit of the original document with an inspiring oration and the National Anthem was sung to perfection by Aoife Doherty. Principal Paul Fiorentini spoke of pride in history, culture, nationality and school. Members of the school choir and trad group, guided by Ms. Audrey Coyle and Ms. Catriona Doherty, then gave an uplifting rendition of The Foggy Dew. Caoimhe McWilliams brought the curtain down on the event with the haunting sound of the bagpipes.
