On Wednesday, 16th May, nineteen students from 2nd and 3rd year went to the Ulster American Folk Park on an educational trip. The lucky students were transported back in time to experience the lives and journeys of Irish people during the Famine. They watched the work of a blacksmith and boarded the reconstructed 'Brig Union' ship to imagine the journey from Ireland to America during the 1800s. Most students agreed they were more appreciative of their homes and modes of transport today, although the hearth cooked scone bread went down a treat! A great time was shared by all.
