Six Word Story

Legend has it that the famous writer Ernest Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in just six words. He took on the challenge and wrote the following story “For sale, baby shoes, never worn”. Apparently he called it his best work. Well if Hemingway can do it then so can CCS students thus there was great excitement throughout the school as students took on the challenge of writing an essay in just six words. The overall standard was very impressive and with a lot of deliberation and some judging assistance needed from outside of CCS the following winners were chosen:

Hearts broken, fingers crossed, family lost – Nicole Donaghy 1A

Crowd standing, anxious groom, empty doorway – Naomi Harkin 2B

Underneath the smile, a cracked soul - Jennifer Doherty 3H

Child lived, laughed, loved no more - Oisin Mc Daid TYD

Her cuts healed, her heart didn’t – Keelan Hegarty 5E

Lost dog, no tags, no reward - Leah Mc Closkey 5H

Certificates and prizes will be presented when we return to school. Well done to the winners and to everyone who participated!
