The Addams Family Musical | 4th-6th December

Addams FamilyIn December, CCS will be back in the musical business with a three-night run of The Addams Family, Wednesday 4th till Friday 6th. Casting is almost complete and rehearsals aren't far away. The Music Department are already slaving away on the project, with a large crew of pupils and staff assembled to help. It's promising to be a real gem of a show. It's early to be talking about tickets, but you can be certain that there won't be one left come showtime, so keep the dates in mind and keep an eye on www.carndonaghcs.ie or twitter.com/carndonaghcs for ticket info.

If you're not sure who The Addams Family are, this sums the whole thing up...In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams. Nonetheless, this quirky family still has to deal with many of the same challenges faced by any other family, and the spookiest nightmare faced by every family creates the focus Lippa, Brickman, and Elice’s musical: the Addams kids are growing up. The Addamses have lived by their unique values for hundreds of years and Gomez and Morticia, the patriarch and matriarch of the clan, would be only too happy to continue living that way. Their dark, macabre, beloved daughter Wednesday, however, is now an eighteen year-old young woman who is ready for a life of her own. She has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a sweet, smart boy from a normal, respectable Ohio family — the most un-Addams sounding person one could be! And to make matters worse, she has invited the Beinekes to their home for dinner. In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

Fashion Show Takes Centre Stage for Erasmus Project

Fashion Show 2019

The stage was set on Thursday, 16th May (thanks Shaun & Danny) for a fashion extravaganza, bringing together this year's Junk Kouture entries, and members of the Erasmus and French exchanges. Admission was restricted to lucky First Year pupils who not only got to enjoy a fashion parade, but also a brilliant half-time show courtesy of www.brunorummler.com. All the pupils who took part deserve a BIG high-five. It's not easy to take on the catwalk in front of your peers, and it's just as difficult to parade in front of people from another country. Well done to both the exchange and CCS pupils who put together a great show (with significant input from Ms. McDermott & Ms. McGee).

The curtains are closed, the tears have been shed and the Áras is shut...so you'll forgive us for not writing the Dancing at Lughnasa match report today. But thanks to Transition Year pupil, Éadaoin Doherty, we have a superb photographic review of a wonderful show. The video is on the way...
