Fashion Show Takes Centre Stage for Erasmus Project

Fashion Show 2019

The stage was set on Thursday, 16th May (thanks Shaun & Danny) for a fashion extravaganza, bringing together this year's Junk Kouture entries, and members of the Erasmus and French exchanges. Admission was restricted to lucky First Year pupils who not only got to enjoy a fashion parade, but also a brilliant half-time show courtesy of All the pupils who took part deserve a BIG high-five. It's not easy to take on the catwalk in front of your peers, and it's just as difficult to parade in front of people from another country. Well done to both the exchange and CCS pupils who put together a great show (with significant input from Ms. McDermott & Ms. McGee).

"Languages Connect" Carndonagh & Saint-Brieuc

As part of raising awareness of the value of learning foreign languages and of the value of spending time abroad, schools are being offered the opportunity to apply for funding as part of a new Funding for School Scheme. Ten schools will be awarded 15,000 each to contribute towards exchange costs such as flights, to offer scholarships to students who would not otherwise be able to participate, or for other needs that the school identifies as contributing towards language learning on the exchange.

CCS is a well established Foreign Exchange school. Mr. Mark Spencer has been coordinating the CCS-Saint-Brieuc Exchange for several years. The value of such a programme in terms of language learning and cultural appreciation cannot be overstated. The following promotional video was recorded in the school and is an excellent outline of the immense value of the Languages Connect programme, and Foreign Exchange programmes in general.

French Exchange Trip to Saint Brieuc (April)

French Exchange 2016

French Exchange Scholarship 2015CCS students pictured with Mr. Mark Spencer just before their departure on the annual French Exchange trip. The students will be spending the weekend in Paris before travelling to St. Brieuc Brittany to meet up with their hosts at Lycée Saint-Charles, who visited Inishowen back in October. As well as visiting the region, the students will be putting to great practice their years of Junior Cert French. They will be attending classes at the lycée and also experiencing the Breton-French culture at its best while staying with their host families. Also on the trip are students from Scoil Mhuire Buncrana. Transition Year students Alannah Shovlin and Casey Cavanagh recently received the French Exchange Scholarship Award for Excellence in Junior Cert French. Casey and Alannah decided to share the award which includes a paid place on the annual French Exchange to Paris & St. Brieuc Brittany.
