Lansdowne Road had the pleasure of welcoming over forty of our Transition Year pupils on Thursday, 5th September for the Ireland Switzerland game. It could be said that not all of them were fully committed to the cause of Irish soccer, especially given the pre-match predictions...nil-nil, obviously! As it turned out, the match was quite a tense affair and the pupils seemed to be glued to it for the last 15 minutes. And when Ooooh Daaavid MaaacGoooldrick scored the equaliser, the place pretty much melted. The FAI have the right idea packing the stands with pupils; they tend to sing a lot, though not necessarily football songs. But it all adds to the occasion. And it looks like there'll be another pack of TYs at the Denmark game - the biggest game of the year...School was never like this!
