Niamh McDaid Crunches the Numbers in Swedish Draw

Carn woman and past-pupil, Niamh McDaid was enjoying some post-match celebrations on Tuesday night following Ireland's 1-1 draw against World No. 2, Sweden in Gothenburg. The result shows just how far the Irish team have come, with the assistance of people like Niamh, since coming up short in the Euro 2022 qualifiers. The draw means that Ireland now hold the destiny of World Cup qualification (Oz/New Zealand 2023) in their own hands. Niamh is currently an Account Manager at STATSports and since December 2021 has been Sports Scientist for the Irish Women's National Team. In that role, she interprets on-field GPS data, and runs reports and provides live updates to the Management during games. Post-match, she correlates the data and makes it available for review to players and staff; that includes working with medical staff with a view to avoiding injuries and accelerating recovery. Best wishes to Niamh as she strives to book a ticket on the plane to Australia-New Zealand next year.
