The inaugural CCS Golf Championship was held at Ballyliffin Golf Club on Wednesday, 18th May, with Pierce McConalogue the player to get his name first on the trophy. 26 young golfers took to the fairways of BGC seeking the title. Conditions were tough, with a tight breeze blowing, but thankfully the rain stayed away.
Pierce made little of the difficult conditions to power home in the back nine for victory. His steady play and good scoring from the 14th was enough to secure the trophy. Ciaran O’Kane clinched 2nd place and he certainly looks like a player to watch this summer when he gets started.
Stephen Miller collected 3rd prize with a very consistent round over both the front and back nines. Ronan Browne sneaked 4th place from two other players on the break of a tie, having the better back nine score.
A great day was had by all and the battle lines are already drawn for next year’s championship.
