On the 15th of April thirty TY students, accompanied by Ms. Doherty, Ms. Farren and Ms. Kearney, went on a a 3-day cultural trip to Paris. The group were met with the all-too-familiar weather conditions of cold and rain. However, their spirits could not be dampened as they took in all the sights. On their first night, they experienced the magic of the Eiffel Tower at night as well as the challenge of making their way from one place to the next on the Parisian Metro!
Their first full day in Paris was a busy one with visits to the Sacré Coeur Cathedral and the beautiful Montmartre district, the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysées (where apparently the McDonald’s chicken nuggets are better than anywhere else in the world!) and a visit to the top of the Eiffel Tower by day to see the spectacular views of the whole city. There was a brief visit to see the glass pyramid of the Louvre museum thanks to our very friendly chauffeur Dominique before finishing the day off with dinner in the city.
The group spent the next day in Disneyland in awe of all the wonders of the park and they went on as many rollercoasters as they could jam into the day. The excitement was tangible! The trip was a great success and was enjoyed by all. Next time though, we might order ahead and see if we can get some heat and sunshine on the menu too!
